How we clean
Soft wash, never blast
High pressure strips the protective granules off asphalt shingles and forces water under tiles — damage you won’t see until the leaks start. Soft washing uses garden-hose pressure plus a professional treatment that does the killing chemically.
What those black streaks are
That’s Gloeocapsa magma, an airborne algae that eats the limestone filler in your shingles. It spreads, holds moisture, and shortens roof life. Our treatment kills it down to the root so streaks rinse away — and stay away far longer than a pressure rinse.
Safe around your home
We bag downspouts, saturate every plant bed before and after, and neutralize runoff. Pets and kids just need to stay inside until the final rinse, usually under an hour.

Yes — it’s the method shingle manufacturers recommend. Water pressure stays at garden-hose level, so no granules are stripped and no water is driven under the roofing. High-pressure roof cleaning, by contrast, can void shingle warranties.
Algae spores are airborne, so nothing stops them forever — but our regrowth inhibitor typically keeps roofs clean for 2 years or more, versus months for a plain water rinse. Heavily shaded roofs may need attention sooner.
Rarely. Our soft-wash system reaches most roofs from ladders and the ground, which protects both your shingles and our crew. If foot access is genuinely needed, we use padded walk boards and proper fall protection.
Light algae rinses away the same day. Heavy moss and lichen die on contact but can take 2–4 weeks of sun and rain to fully release and wash off — we explain the timeline before we start so there are no surprises.
