We hear the same confident claims on driveways across Tampa. Most cost homeowners money, damage, or both. Let’s clear them up.

Myth 1: “More pressure means a better clean”

Pressure past the surface’s tolerance just causes damage faster. Pros clean concrete at moderate pressure with the right nozzle and dwell — and siding and roofs at a fraction of that. Chemistry first, pressure second.

Myth 2: “Rain washes my house for free”

Rain feeds algae; it doesn’t remove it. The green film on shaded walls is a living colony that grips tighter every season. If rain cleaned houses, nobody north-facing would ever need us — and they’re half our bookings.

Myth 3: “Bleach from the hardware store is the same thing”

Household bleach is the wrong concentration, lacks the surfactants that make pro mixes cling and dwell, and it’ll torch your landscaping without proper neutralization. Our mixes are proportioned, buffered, and followed by plant-safe rinsing.

Myth 4: “Pressure washing ruins everything”

Only in the wrong hands. Damage stories come from zero-degree nozzles held two inches from wood. A trained tech with the right tip, distance, and method cleans safely — that’s the entire difference between a rental and a result.

Myth 5: “My roof just needs a good blast”

The fastest way to buy a new roof early. Shingle manufacturers specify low-pressure or no-pressure cleaning; blasting strips granules and voids warranties. Black streaks want a soft wash, full stop.

Myth 6: “One wash lasts forever”

Spores are airborne — nothing stops them permanently. But a proper wash with treatment lasts 18–24 months on siding and up to two years on roofs, versus months for water-only rinses. Maintenance beats rescue, every time.
